Feb 2018 – OMAN ADOPTS THE 11TH EDITION OF THE NICE CLASSIFICATION

The Eleventh Edition of the International Classification of Goods and Services for the Purposes of the Registration of Marks under the Nice Agreement (Nice Classification) has been officially adopted in Oman, according to the Trademarks Office.
The Nice Classification is a system of classifying goods and services for the purpose of registering trademarks. The system groups products into 45 classes, and allows users seeking to trademark a good or service to choose from these classes as appropriate.

The adoption of the 11th edition will not affect trade marks already filed and registered in Oman. On the next renewal, goods and classes affected by the change should be reclassified accordingly by the Trade Marks Office.
